ROADWORKS’ RESPONSE TO COVID-19

March 13, 2020

Hello to all the Social Media followers of Roadworks Driver Training, which from now on will be referred to as “Roadies.” (Well if Justin Bieber followers are referred to as “Beliebers”, we figure we have the right to claim an equally ridiculous name).

Having settled that, we want to move on to the more serious matter of dealing with Coronavirus (COVID-19). Whilst in the car with your instructor, you will naturally be closer to that person than is recommended by health experts. This close proximity is unavoidable. Your Instructor will sometimes touch the wheel if you are swerving towards another lane or manually help shift gears if you are selecting 3rd while attempting to merge at 100kph. So, occasional contact may happen. In these troubled times we all need to be aware about the added health risks now associated with learning to drive.

Please rest assured that your instructor will be implementing good hygiene habits between lessons. Hands will be sanitised, car controls will be cleaned with anti-bacterial wipes and the “Glen 20” will be sprayed liberally at appropriate intervals. Conversely, we also expect our students to wash their hands before coming to their lesson and again after returning home. If you recognise any flu or cold-like symptoms, we highly recommend that you contact us as soon as possible to postpone your lesson or test. This will help us all in our quest to “flatten the curve of infection” and keep this virus at bay.

We encourage all drivers, including past and present students, as well as parents, to put these practices in to place to help curtail the spread of the virus. Therefore, to all “Roadies” we ask you to share this information to friends, family, new or old drivers, in fact, anyone who will listen.

Stay safe and healthy,

Your Roadworks Team
